Enrichment Programs
Regardless of their age or behavior level, your dog’s health and happiness can be improved through enrichment activities. We provide numerous fun and engaging enrichment training programs that boast numerous benefits.
Our enrichment programs help:
- Maintain your dog’s sharp mind and skills
- Build a stronger bond between your dog and your family
- Channel energy into appropriate tasks
- Improve behavior in public spaces
Obedience Classes
Rufus Care Center’s dog obedience classes are split into levels to help both you and your four-legged family member learn at a progressive pace. Our reward-based training methods will help ensure that your dog attains the level of obedience most pet parents only dream about.
The three levels of our obedience classes are:
- Level I—Basic: Builds the foundation of reliable commands like sit, down, leave it, come when called, and leash walking.
- Level II—Intermediate: Learn how to get your dog to heel by your side, go to their mat, and add distance plus distractions to all their behaviors.
- Level III—Public Polishing/CGC Prep: This level teaches your dog to sit when you greet a stranger, heel in a crowd, and more. They will now be prepared for the Canine Good Citizen (CGC) exam.
Frequently Asked Questions
Rufus Care Center® is proud to make flexible, fun, and effective training a reality. We offer reward-based training programs that will satisfy all your pup’s needs! We realize you may have many questions regarding our dog training services, which is why we have provided answers to our most frequently asked questions for your convenience.
Rufus Care Center Certified Trainers only use reward-based training methods. We believe dogs deserve to be rewarded when they do well rather than making them work to avoid negative outcomes. To us, rewards can mean praise, food, treats, or even a toy your dog loves. Our team uses clicker training in obedience classes to inform our four-legged students when they’re doing a behavior correctly. Clicker training allows dogs to learn quickly, and when they do, we slowly remove the clicker and treats. This is a fun, rewarding, and effective training method for both our dogs and their humans.
The cost of dog training varies depending on whether you are interested in in-Camp, private, or group training. Get in touch with your local Camp for more information about our training costs.
We recommend you consult with one of our Rufus Care Center Certified Trainers to determine the type of training your dog needs. Once we understand your goals, we can help you choose the right training service that will help you achieve them.
Most training sessions take place at Camp. Our programs offer both private training and in-Camp training during your pup’s stay. The location will depend on the type of training you choose. Some of our Camps offer off-site training. One of your local Certified Trainers can inform you about where your trainings can or will take place.
This is a great way for us to train your dog while they are staying at Camp with us. Whether they are here for the day or staying all night, you can request to have one of our Certified Trainers spend one-on-one time going over specific behaviors with your pet. Our trainer will take the time to go over your dog’s progress with you when you come to pick them up. We can also give you instructions as to how to help them maintain the progress they have made.
Get in touch with your local Rufus Care Center to learn more about the dates and times of obedience classes.
Dogs must be up-to-date on Rabies, Distemper, and Bordetella. Other vaccinations may be required based on the Camp location. If your pup is participating in training during their day care or boarding stay, they must have passed the Camper Interview.
